LL-37 is a human cathelicidin peptide used in the laboratory to investigate how natural antimicrobial mechanisms, wound healing, and immune responses function at the cellular level.
The peptide plays a key role in the innate immune system and is involved in defense against bacteria, viruses, and fungi. In research, LL-37 is often used for its influence on inflammation, tissue repair, and cell signaling.
Research findings
In vitro studies have shown that LL-37:
can stimulate cell growth and migration in wound healing;
exhibits antimicrobial activity against a wide range of pathogens;
can modulate inflammatory responses by interacting with TLR receptors;
may play a role in the regulation of immune responses and tissue repair.
Researchers are using LL-37 to study the interactions between immune cells, epithelial tissue, and microbial defense, as well as the effects on cell signaling and repair processes in vitro.
